Gabion baskets, also called gabion boxes, are made of corrosion-resistant, high-strength and ductile galvanized wire or PVC coated wire through mechanical weaving. Wire material is zinc -5% aluminum alloy (galfan), low carbon steel, stainless steel or iron.

80 × 100 mm mesh opening + 3.0 mm wire dia. = higher tensile strength (400–500 MPa) than local 2.0 mm baskets—no bulging even after monsoon flow.
